Back Where We Started

Good morning, everyone!  It's now my turn. I'm Staci, the mama of this crazy family of amazing humans.  Gary and I have raised four kids together and have lived many places in the U.S., picking up a few extra kid-in-laws along the way.  We have been somewhat Nomadic for the last 26 years, but as of summer 2016, we decided to replant our roots where our story began: Ruston, Louisiana.

We had been in Houston for the previous 14 years --  a city that we LOVE. Our hearts are broken by the current situation there surrounding Harvey.  The bulk of our kids' childhoods happened there, so many memories happened there - good and not so good, alike.  We were lucky that our kids were raised in one of the most diverse cities in our country, but still had a sense of community, no matter what part of Houston we lived in. Living in an urban area kept us all on go, all of the time.  When our youngest, Jackson, moved away from Houston to Ruston for school, Gary and I found ourselves in Houston surrounded by great friends, grocery stores, and restaurants, but far from our children, who had all somehow ended up back in Ruston.  Then came the first grand kiddo, Kipp.

January 30, 2016, Thomas and Megan brought our first grand baby into this world.  Kipp Lowry Faulkner's first cry captivated my heart.  Driving back to Houston after being in Louisiana for his birth, I told Gary that I couldn't be far from him.  Honestly, the pace of life that I maintained in Houston was hard, and the congestion of the city was beginning to take a toll on me.  I longed for quiet and stillness that I only found during yoga in Houston.  I knew where I could find that feeling, so it was not long before the plans fell into place. We decided to move back.

We found the perfect house - which was the childhood home of Gary's best friend - on a quiet street, surrounded by trees and beautiful yards, and not one street light.  Our home is filled with a different, calmer type of noise now - a barking dog, and the joyful sounds of hearing Kipp run down the hall.  My work pace is still crazy, and Megan and I are working hard on Garden Baby together, but life is good.

wishing you love & peace,

Staci
