Garden Baby has been sprouting up everywhere! We were finally able to finish sewing our spring line, and now we are busy restocking and reordering fabrics. Our rainbow fabric has been a huge hit, so we have more on the way (if you’re one of the people patiently waiting ;)).
We set up for the Maker’s Fair last weekend in VERY cold and wet weather. In spite of the weather, people were out shopping, but we all had to be bundled up like winter, complete with gloves and scarves. Gary went out and bought a heater for our booth, so that made lots of new friends for Garden Baby! We lasted for about three hours in the tent before we moved back to the shop. People were glad to come in from the cold, and we were happy to have them.
This past week we also participated in Ruston Fashion Week. We are so fortunate to live in a community of merchants that work well together and support each other’s events! On Tuesday night we hosted a garden party with our neighbors – Utility Brewing, Fringe Art, Embellishments, and Jennings Apiaries. We have a great patio/garden area, which is the perfect spot on a beautiful spring night to host friends to celebrate local fashion, food, art and music. The big celebration for Ruston Fashion Week was scheduled for tonight, but this Louisiana weather – it has been postponed until May! We’ve seen winter through summer all in one week.
Tomorrow starts another weekly event for Garden Baby: we will be setting up at the Ruston Farmer’s Market for the season! Each Saturday morning from 8am until noon, we will have a booth next to Renner’s Farm. We are excited to have a spot indoors this year! It is a great way to start your Saturday morning in our community – local healthy food and local art. We’ll be bringing our organic screen prints and a few other things from Garden Baby each week. We are hoping to have a few new recycled fabric pieces for next weekend!
We hope to see you soon in our shop, the market, or online! It took a village to prepare them and get them online, but the new spring items are ready to ship!! Now if we can only get this weather to cooperate, we’d be right as all this rain.
Love & peace,
